Interview with Ricardo Bak Gordon, João Trindade, Gonçalo Baptista and Yutaka Shiki. The former two participate to the "Tradition is Innovation - Exhibition of Contemporary Architecture in Portugal", the latter two are the curator of this exhibition, which will be held at Living Design Gallery in Living Design Center OZONE 7F, Tokyo from 29th of September to 11th of October, 2011 as the related Program of UIA2011 TOKYO.

Ricardo Bak Gordon
Ricardo Bak Gordon was born in Lisbon in 1967, and studied in Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto, in Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa and in the Milan Polytechnic Institute. He graduated in 1990. During that year he created the Vilela & Gordon atelier, together with Carlos Vilela Lúcio. In the year 2000 he created the atelier Bak Gordon Arquitectos, where he currently works. Among the works and competitions he participated in are, the first prize of the international competition for the Residence of the Portuguese Embassy in Brasilia, Brasil, the first prize of the international competition for the 1st Lisbon Architecture Triennale , the first prize of the competition for Portuguese Pavilion in ExpoZaragoza 2008, the requalification projects for the schools and most recently as the contact office for the Brazilian architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha in the new Carriage Museum in Lisbon.
João Trindade
Born in Evora in 1972. Graduated in architecture at ESBAL/FAUTL(1995). Starts his own office in 2003. Since 1998 he has been a teacher at Faculdade de Arquitectura -Universidade Lusiada de Lisboa teaching 2nd and 5th year project design, from 2009 he teaches at the University of Evora. Between 1993 and 2002 he collaborated exclusively at João Luís Carrilho da Graça's office having coordinated it from 1998. He was a consulter for ParqueExpo and for the Ministry of Environment, responsible for managing the key projects for the Programa Polis. In 2003 he founded the office SOMA, with Pedro Matos Gameiro and Carlos Crespo, architects, and Paulo Cadoso and Pedro Romano, engineers. In 2009 he received the FAD Award, awarded by ArquinFAD Barcelona for the project of the EBG, Mourão.
Gonçalo Baptista
Born in Lisbon in 1981. He studied at Lusíada University of Lisbon and the Polytechnic of Milan. After graduating in architecture he worked at the practice of João Luís Carrilho da Graça since 2004 and is currently working at the practice of Sir David Chipperfield since 2011.
Yutaka Shiki
Born in Fukuoka in 1979. He studied at the University of Tokyo, the Technical University of Lisbon and Sint-Lucas School of Architecture in Ghent. He graduated in architecture and is currently working at the practice of João Luís Carrilho da Graça since 2005. Gonçalo Baptista and Yutaka Shiki created Point of View in 2010 and started the interview project to Portuguese architects to reflect and observe contemporary society, assuming architecture as a Viewpoint.
